There are times when an understanding of the basic principles of HTML
can help any web producer troubleshoot a site. Click here
for a series of exercises that will introduce you to the basic principles
of HTML in using text, images
and hyperlinks and tables. You will
also find a handy reference section detailing the main tags used to format
web pages here.

While knowledge of HTML source code can be useful for troubleshooting,
effective web site production depends on knowing how to use web
editors to compose pages as quickly and efficiently as possible. These
links demonstrate how to construct the sample
web site using Netscape Composer,
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe
GoLive, Microsoft FrontPage and
NetObjects Fusion.

Another important part of creating a compelling web site comes from using
graphics effectively. In this section, you'll find links to tutorials
for image editors that will show
you how to create, optimise and animate graphics using Adobe
PhotoShop. (Currently under construction.)

Macromedia's Flash has become an industry standard for animated and interactive
vector graphics on the web. Growing from a simple format for displaying
images with animation, many designers now use Flash
to provide a complete web interface.

To build web sites with the above packages, you'll need to download resources
such as text files and images from here.
