With a combined market share of just over 88 percent, Apache and Microsoft's Internet Information Server dominate server technology, although despite the huge amount of marketing Microsoft has poured into its software it still lags far behind Apache. The success of IIS was largely at the expense of other competitors, with once dominant applications such as Netscape and Sun. Nonetheless, for the past few months the market share of servers has largely remained static. |
