GoLive: Lesson 5 - Working with Stationery (Templates)

GoLive can save pages to use as templates, or stationery. To use stationery, create a new page and insert a layer 600 pixels wide to hold a grid for the history page. This will contain the same images and text as used for the page history.html when created in Composer. When images and text have been formatted, links entered for top level pages and background images and link colours set, save the page to disk.

If necessary expand the site window to show the auxiliary folders, and click the Extra tab by clicking on the arrow in the bottom left hand corner. Click on the Extra tab and Ctrl+drag (Windows) or option-click (Mac OS) and drag the history.html to the Extra tab to copy it as stationery; to do this, drop the file in the Stationeries folder so that GoLive automatically converts the file to stationery.

To add a new page by importing stationery, select Stationeries from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the Site Extras tab of the Palette (right). Drag the appropriate stationery (in this case the page created for history.html as a page template) onto files section of the site map (on the top right hand in the image above) to create a new page with basic design elements before renaming the page.
